Regulatory Compliance

At PDT we are committed to ensure that products meet all the relevant regulatory standards, for example,

  • Electro Magnetic Compatibility (EMC). This applies to all electronic and electrical equipment. Products must not cause interference that could be detrimental to the operation of other electrical equipment. Products must not be susceptible to interference generated by other equipment.
  • Low Voltage Directive (LVD). This Directive covers the safety of electrical equipment designed for use with a voltage rating of between 50 and 1000 V for alternating current and between 75 and 1500 V for direct current.
  • R&TTE directive (Radio and Telecommunications Terminal Equipment Directive). This directive is the main route to compliance for Radio and Telecoms equipment that is sold in Europe.
  • RoHS directive (Reduction of Hazardous Substances). The RoHS Directive stands for "the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment".  This Directive bans the placing on the EU market of new electrical and electronic equipment containing more than agreed levels of lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) flame retardants.
  • WEEE directive (Waste electrical and electronic equipment). The WEEE directive aims to minimise the impact of electrical and electronic goods on the environment, by increasing re-use and recycling and reducing the amount of WEEE going to landfill. It seeks to achieve this by making producers responsible for financing the collection, treatment, and recovery of waste electrical equipment, and by obliging distributors to allow consumers to return their waste equipment free of charge.
